FAQs

  • What is KNIT PIT?

KNIT PIT is a Pittsburgh-based fiber arts community. We started in 2024 and host free monthly crafting nights at breweries, plus workshops, classes, and one-off events around the city.

  • Do I need to know how to knit?

Not at all. Most people at yarn club are beginners or still learning, and we welcome whatever craft you're working on, whether that's knitting, crochet, embroidery, or mending.

  • Where and when do you meet?

Yarn club rotates between Eleventh Hour Brewing in Lawrenceville, Back Alley Brewing in the South Hills, and a virtual meetup on Discord. Dates shift month to month, so check our calendar for what's coming up next.

  • How much does it cost?

Yarn club is free, though you'll want to buy your own drinks. Workshops and 1x1 help have small fees that vary by event.

  • Do you teach crochet?

Yes. We run a beginner crochet series with Em of Elderflower Yarn Crafts, and there are usually crocheters at yarn club happy to help with the basics.

  • I'm left-handed. Can you still teach me?

Yes. We teach both right and left-handed knitting, and we've worked with plenty of lefties over the years.

  • Want to collab, host us, or write about us?

We're open to partnerships, press features, panel invites, and unusual ideas. Email kate@knit-pit.com to start a conversation. Past features include Talk Pittsburgh, KDKA, and sttch atlas magazine, among others.

  • How do I stay updated?

Follow us on Instagram for event announcements, or join our Discord for daily community chat, project help, and the inside scoop on what's coming up.
